Bringing well-being to work
Walton Family Whole Health & Fitness in Bentonville, Arkansas, is bringing a new model for health and wellness based on self-care to the corporate campus. The more than 376,00 square-foot, two-story facility is designed to empower people to take charge of their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
The project is part of a larger Walmart initiative to establish a creative and inspirational work environment and promote health and well-being for every associate.
Something for everyone
The facility offers Walmart’s associates and their families fitness options including three indoor pools, tennis courts, a walking track, and spaces for cooking, exercise, yoga, and meditation classes. The design team received input from employees to help shape the facility’s programming.
Views of the outdoors, natural light, natural materials, spaces to relax, and access to a community network of walking and biking trails are just a few of the amenities being integrated to advance wellness and mental health.
The design also integrated sustainability through energy-efficient facades and systems and locally sourced mass timber. It targeted LEED Platinum certification.
