Expedited schedule to reduce campus impact and relieve parking concerns.
Located on the north boundary of the west campus, the garage is creates a definitive edge to the campus. Public faces of the garage elevation feature enhanced architectural treatment with precast concrete frame elements and metal mesh screens with large branded graphics. At the ground level, elevation treatment is softened by vertical trellises for climbing plants and "green screens," which create a human scale that relates to the adjacent residential area. At night, the blue LED lights serve as a landmark, directing pedestrians to the garage elevator cores.
The five-story, cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete garage provides 1,500 parking spaces to accommodate students, faculty, and staff. It also will support future residence halls and a dining facility. Due to a compressed timeline driven by parking needs, phase one of the garage was completed in 11 months from project award, and phase two was completed in five months. The expedited schedule and phased construction significantly reduced the student impact, allowing them to use the new facility at peak parking times.
Due to a compressed timeframe from the University, the project was constructed in 11 months.
