Reimagined to invite additional communities and strengthen student connections.
Sunset High School opened in 1925 in southwest Oak Cliff and at the time, was one of the largest schools in the district. Now with an enrollment of 2,000 students, the campus was in desperate need to add more space to the school and bring spaces into the 21st century.

The project revolved around four major goals — increase security and establish secure design solutions, create brand awareness to invigorate school pride, bridge the existing with the new additions to create a connected school, and revitalize outdated spaces to encourage collaboration. By adding new fine arts, athletics, and competition spaces, extracurricular activities will have designated spaces to practice their craft which double as shared community spaces.

Due to the historical nature of this project, Corgan worked closely with the Landmark Commission to maintain the original aesthetic of the high school. The original 1925 entry door was maintained, tree mitigations were approved through the city, as well as painting all entry railings were painted black to closely relate to the original design.
