The Shutterfly Plano manufacturing facility authentically represents the beloved consumer brand while highlighting company’s roots in technology. It was important to stay true to their Silicon Valley beginnings, while being reflective of the Texas region. Shutterfly’s culture creates a place where employees genuinely feel valued and customers feel connected.
In addition to providing 60,000 square feet of new office space for Shutterfly’s leadership and engineering teams, the facility features 175,000 square feet of state-of-the-art production space that remains hyper flexible for the ever evolving manufacturing needs.
Shutterfly enables users to create personalized photo gifts throughout the world. When developing the concept for the design, memories, locality, and cameras became the focus. The design team explored ways to incorporate these elements throughout the space. The reception desk shape is reminiscent of a vintage camera while the large pendant lighting above playfully represent camera lenses. The materials selected throughout have a nod to the local region including rustic barn wood in the reception area, cowhide ottomans, and a themed mural over weathered brick at the monumental stair.
The reception seating area offers an ever changing display of Shutterfly products which share a multitude of memories in a cozy living room setting. A viewing area offers a zone of collaboration with a full glass overlook of the adjacent production floor, ensuring the celebration of the technology behind each shared memory.
