Where heritage meets modern refinement
Rooted in the company’s beginnings in the Texas railway industry, the client’s headquarters design celebrates its legacy while embracing a sophisticated new era. The client envisioned a moody, richly detailed environment reminiscent of an exclusive petroleum club. The interiors throughout reveal a deliberate departure from prevailing minimalism in contemporary workplace settings, favoring instead a traditional, layered atmosphere that honors the company’s storied past while introducing modern touches to attract a new generation of employees.
Bridging eras through a balance of traditionalism and contemporary finishes, Corgan created a workspace that feels both storied and forward-looking – and unmistakably Texan.
Design intent and craftsmanship
The interior material selections merge tradition and innovation at every turn. The Corgan interiors team crafted a striking brass metal mesh panel to place between the reception area and the boardroom pre-function area, its pattern inspired by an abstract aerial view of railroad crossings.
The design team carried this bespoke motif – an intentional nod to the client’s origins – throughout a custom timeline mounted on a wall that features brass plaques on wood mounts, a design choice meant to evoke the image of rail lines receding in the distance. Tufted leather seating, brass accents, and bold, deep hues reiterate the narrative of the space, every material and detail carefully selected to reinforce a story of legacy and evolution. The result is an environment that communicates institutional depth while remaining unmistakably current.
Brand, art, and identity
To further complement the interiors, Corgan’s Brand + Graphics team commissioned charcoal portraits of the company’s founding members and curated the existing art collection, weaving together heritage, craftsmanship, and a renewed sense of purpose in a modern workplace. The result is an environment in which brand identity and spatial design operate in concert – each amplifying the significance of the other and together, articulating a workplace as expressive as it is functional.
