Dining Designed to Work
Located at the base of Dallas’ Harwood No. 14 office tower, NDA is an American brasserie-style restaurant that offers patrons a menu full of classic options and an ambience that’s warm, cozy, and inviting. It’s easy to imagine corporate leaders or lawyers dining over eggs benedict at breakfast or steak frites at lunch because that’s exactly who the restaurant is designed for — frontrunners looking for the ideal workday place to gather for a business lunch or close a deal.
Where Business Meets Pleasure
The art of business meets time-tested hospitality at NDA, offering proof that the classics still make a strong case. Corgan worked in collaboration with Harwood International and Wimberly Interiors to execute the project. The restaurant’s name is a play on a non-disclosure agreement, giving a nod to the discretion patrons can enjoy while forming business relationships or celebrating a win in a memorable setting.
The atmosphere throughout the 3,300-square-foot space feels relaxed, yet refined, and boasts the kind of timeless finishes you’d expect in a bold, traditional setting. The brass-trimmed and wood paneled entrance leads to the main dining room with banquette seating, coffered ceilings, Texas knotty pine, white oak floors, and herringbone-pattern fabric wall coverings. The long bar is reinforced with steel scaffolding and features a black marble top, plush leather high tops, and brass and frosted glass pendants overhead as well as Etruscan gold marble accents and inset antique mirrors.
Ornate rugs, upholstery (think business wear-inspired plaid and check patterns), and heavy drapes were used to elevate the interiors and enhance the acoustics throughout the dining areas. Other materials include wood veneers, thick moldings, brass plates, and decorative metal details — elements, when combined with the restaurant’s white tablecloths and first-class service, add to a setting that could also be mistaken for a private club or lounge just off a boardroom. Playing to the law-inspired theme and accents, 1883 “Vanity Fair” prints, antique chromolithograph images and caricatures of lawyers, judges, legislators, and satirical legal scenes adorn the walls, as well as oil paintings sourced from Harwood’s private collection.
Corgan’s commitment to agility in design, excellence in technology, and a user-centered approach ensured that each aspect of the design was executed practically within the constraints of the existing building, the client’s budget, and an aggressive schedule.
Downtown Destination
NDA—and Harwood No. 14—is located within the Harwood District’s prized portfolio of office buildings and renowned hospitality offerings. Outdoor patio seating as well as reception and seated-style dining options indoors make NDA the perfect choice for professional breakfasts, café-style lunches, and cocktail hours year-round. The space can also be transformed for private events in the evening. Corgan collaborated on Harwood No. 14, Harwood’s tallest tower, affording the team insight and experience into the project as they approached NDA on the ground level.
