The new 20,000-square-foot Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) brings an elevated experience to travelers. Inspired by Philadelphia’s rich culture and history, the Sapphire Lounge at PHL reimagines a traditional tavern with modern touches and amenities. Conveniently located in the connector between Terminals D and E, the lounge provides travelers with a place to refresh, relax, and ready themselves for their journey.
Born and Raised
Philadelphia’s history sets the tone for a spacious beer garden, a first for any Chase Sapphire lounge. Inspired by the city’s 17th century Blue Anchor Tavern, the bar features custom brass taps and a reclaimed wood communal table that gives the charm of a classic pub. Anchoring the space, a vibrant mural by local artist James Burns from Mural Arts Philadelphia features a colorful take on the city’s landscape of bridges and scenic paths. This idea of city and open space is reinforced with modern touches like overhead foliage and expansive airfield views create a fresh, inviting contrast. In a nod to more recent history, Philadelphia’s sports legacy shines in the lounge’s arcade room.
Memorabilia from the city’s Big Four teams line the room, providing a nostalgic backdrop to retro arcade games and a TV wall keeping fans in the game while traveling. With plush seating and custom lighting, the arcade transforms from a casual game room into an elevated social center.
Design Inspiration
Corgan’s design team focused on delivering the luxurious but effortless experience that guests have come to expect from Sapphire lounges. Like all other Sapphire lounges, a dramatic tiered brass canopy marks the stylish bar as a central hub of activity. The material palette — natural stone, rich velvets, dark wood and brass accents — creates a dramatic atmosphere, softened with expansive windows, custom light fixtures, and welcoming local touches.
Something For Everyone
To welcome every kind of traveler, a curated selection of amenities is placed thoughtfully throughout the lounge. For travelers looking to refresh, an attendant is available to assist with reservations for wellness amenities, including private rest pods with airfield views and several rooms for rejuvenating facial treatments. In addition to spacious, marble-lined restrooms, the lounge features two private showers.
A playful family area that is tucked away from the more social areas of the lounge gives traveling families a space to play, read, relax, or run around. The kids’ zone — set apart from the family room by sliding glass doors — features cozy reading nooks, toys, and kid-friendly furniture, along with seating for parents, so little ones can explore freely while adults unwind. Additionally, just steps away, a private nursing room offers comfort and convenience.
Large windows overlooking the airfield allow natural light to flood the dining room, beer garden, productivity lounge, and wellness pods — creating a bright, inviting atmosphere throughout the space. In the productivity lounge, a water-vapor fireplace serves as the centerpiece of a cozy seating area, while a sizable conference table and two phone booths give travelers a place to work. Work niches, sofas, and other plush seating options are arranged in intimate settings, offering guests a private spot to unwind with a drink from the bar or self-serve beverage center.

From the local touches to the elevated hospitality, the design provides an authentic, dynamic experience for all types of travelers.
