A Workplace Design Shaped by Los Angeles

Inspired by local landscape

Shaped by the landscapes and sensory experiences of Southern California, Corgan’s relocated and newly designed office channels the creative spirit of Los Angeles into a vibrant workplace for its team of architects and designers. Located in Culver City, the studio draws inspiration from the region’s sweeping panoramas — from sunlit beaches and the Hollywood Hills to the layered rhythms of the city skyline — infusing the workplace with the energy and character of Los Angeles.

This connection to place unfolds through a west-to-east color narrative that mirrors the vistas seen from the office. Oceanic blues, bleached wood tones, and natural materials evoke the tranquil atmosphere of the coast, gradually transitioning to bronze-colored metals, back-painted glass, dichroic hues, and neon accents that capture the intensity and vibrancy of the urban skyline. An ombre-like gradient moves throughout the office, translating Los Angeles’ dramatic geographic transitions into a cohesive interior experience.

First impressions

The 40,000-square-foot office extends the design narrative through a sequence of experiences that reflect the city’s evolving light, from coastal daylight to dramatic sunsets and the illuminated skyline after dark. Upon entering, the elevator lobby makes a memorable first impression — gradient yellow wallcoverings, metal trim, and bronze mirror finishes reference the golden light of the California sun.

The reception area offers a bold interpretation of the Los Angeles skyline at sunset. A bronze metal reception desk in fading gold and yellow tones is paired with a dark bronze ceiling and a striking yellow velvet banquette, reflecting the dramatic light and layered silhouette of the city at night.

A workplace for creativity

The workplace reflects Corgan’s commitment to design excellence, agility, and innovation in response to the evolving demands of the industry. Workstation office space and eight private offices are organized around a diverse mix of alternative work settings and gathering areas that support creativity and connection across the studio.

Private phone rooms and meeting spaces accommodate a range of work styles while giving team members a greater choice to control their environment throughout the day. Seamless technology keeps employees connected, whether at their desks, in the work café, or in collaborative spaces. Collaborative zones break up traditional workstation neighborhoods and link the north and south ends of the open office areas.

The work café serves as a vibrant social hub and boasts sweeping views throughout the fourth floor. Featuring aqua-colored tiles, sun-bleached white oak floors, terrazzo surfaces, and glazed finishes, the beach club-inspired palette is bright, light, and airy, perfectly capturing the indoor-outdoor character of Southern California. Adjacent to the café, the open lounge offers an intimate setting for quiet conversation or creative dialogue over a cup of coffee; a covered terrace extends the workplace outdoors with fresh, coastal air and panoramic views.

A large conference room connects to a community kitchen through operable glass partitions, allowing the spaces to open for all-hands gatherings or client events. On the city-facing side of the office, client conference rooms and a client coffee bar are marked by a neon sign, providing a welcoming setting for both meetings and hospitality.

The broadcast room also serves as a conference room when not in use, elevating how Corgan engages with clients through the latest broadcast technology. The model shop invites a tactile, immediate connection to Corgan’s work, allowing clients to experience designs firsthand, while the library’s high-resolution overhead camera enables real-time collaboration and feedback — bringing materiality into sharp, shared focus.

Designed for zero: a carbon-reduced studio

Sustainability is embedded in Corgan’s approach to design for all its offices. The Los Angeles office was designed to reduce environmental impact while supporting occupant wellbeing and advancing sustainable practices in interior renovation.

The project was designed to meet Fitwel® standards and pursue the International Living Future Institute’s Zero Carbon Certification (ILFI-ZC), a third-party framework verifying that a project eliminates or balances both operational and embodied carbon emissions.

Where design and place converge

Inspired by the light, coastal landscapes, and layered skyline that define Los Angeles, the studio fosters creative exchange while reinforcing Corgan’s commitment to design excellence and client-focused service.
