Steel framing takes shape for $1.3B Hollywood Burbank Airport revamp

Six months after our last update, steel framing is clearly visible from the runway of Hollywood Burbank Airport, where construction is in full swing for a $1.3-billion replacement terminal.
Under construction since early 2024, the new terminal is rising at the northeast section of the airport and will consist of a 355,000-square-foot building with 14 passenger gates, shops, restaurants, a ticketing lobby, a new TSA checkpoint, and a new baggage claim area.
The design-build team, which includes Corgan, Holder, Pankow, TEC, CannonDesign, and Burns & McDonnell, has conceived a building with a swooping roof canopy that extends into facade of the airport's parking structure. The design has been described as evoking a silver screen in a public plaza.
