Vice President, Project Manager
Houston, Texas USA
A second-generation architect, the most valuable lesson A.J. learned from his father was how architecture creates a legacy that leaves a positive impact on society. This powerful message continues to inform how A.J. practices architecture today. “Public education is critical to the health of our communities -- through design, I truly want to enhance the learning and teaching experience for public schools,” he says.
As the leader of the Education Studio in Houston, A.J.’s primary role is to develop his team to ensure project success. “Seeing the team as well as individuals succeed is exciting,” he says. “I'm also stoked when we secure repeat business from existing clients.” The project he is most proud of is the Barbara Jordan High School for Careers, a school that serves a large swath of underserved communities in Houston.
As the 2022 President of the AIA Houston chapter, A.J. continues his father’s legacy by improving the business of architecture. Outside of work, he educates two sons to carry on to the next generation.
