A future-forward renovation for a NYC law firm

This science and technology patent attorney firm had resided in an office tower on 5th Avenue and West 57th in Manhattan for over 25 years and was ready to renovate their office. The firm turned to Corgan to reconfigure its space plan, refresh dated finishes, and renew its brand image to appeal to a younger workforce and entrepreneurial clientele. Refurbishing two full floors of the building, the family-owned practice was handed a space that left a lasting impression.

Creating captivating views of Fifth Avenue

Taking advantage of the prime location was key. Removal of a narrow stairwell and old paneling revealed three banks of windows framing stellar views overlooking Central Park and New York’s bustling 5th Avenue. Opening the corridor and placing glass fronts on perimeter offices invites natural light deep into the core creating a spacious, open reception zone for big impact. Visitors exiting the elevator step into the bright lobby next to the deposition boardroom that accommodates up to 20 guests. Clusters of work zones throughout offer collaborative spaces for attorneys and clients to meet privately. With abundant glass providing transparency, openness, and prime views of the park confidentiality is still maintained with film on the office fronts. Security is enhanced with defined secure areas and security doors to protect clients seeking patents.

A modern aesthetic for today’s client

A timeless blending of classic and modern, the space represents the firm’s family values while appealing to companies and entrepreneurs on the cutting edge of science and technology. Metals accent the monochromic space balanced with white oak accents and touches of greenery bringing the outside in. Mirrored wall panels and durable metallic paint cover over existing paneling adding a reflective quality. Calcutta white marble mixed with existing aged stone blends an old and new aesthetic into a sophisticated space representative of the firm’s growing and modern practice today.
